Blogger Helper (6): Patterned Background

Disclaimer: As always this is information that I have learned in my blogging experience. Everyone’s blogging experience is different and you should only take what advice you want and leave the rest.

Backgrounds are the backbone of any design. This can make your page pop or it can make it impossible to read. I’m a strong believer in light backgrounds. Dark backgrounds make it harder to read EVEN if you have a light background on the content part of your blog.

I know dark backgrounds are common in book blogs, especially paranormal book blogs just make sure it is readable to the average reader.
Patterned Backgrounds:

Patterned is by far the easiest way to have a beautiful background. It will allow you to simply upload a pic into blogger’s template editor and not worry about it any further than that.

Create a Background

I’m not gonna go into how to create one in photoshop or gimp here. (Btw if you don’t have gimp I would recommend you download it now. There are ways, but why go to the hassle when there are simple creators online.

Bg Patterns: This is my favorite and it has so many options that you can create a ton of different ones in all colors. There is one issue. I can’t get it to download correctly. So how do you get it off? CTRL+Prt Screen. This takes a screen capture and then crop it to the design. Save and upload to blogger.

Pattern Cooler: I don’t like strong patterns so I haven’t really used this one, but it can make beautiful backgrounds. Customize, download, upload. It’s that simple.

Find a Background

This the simplest and there are tons, but it’s not customizable. I’m just gonna link you to a few places that you can find great ones that aren’t copyrighted.

These are three of my favorites, but a simple google search will come back with thousands. Just make sure you don’t take one that is copyrighted.

So that is patterned backgrounds. I’ll go over fixed backgrounds in the next Blogger Helper.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the form below.

This has been very helpful.  I have saved this tutorial and the sites to my bookmarks.  When I'm reading to redo my site, I'll give it a try.
